The Master of Science in Applied Computer Science provides advanced computer science education. The Master of Science in Applied Computer Science program offers the opportunity to specialize in one of two concentrations;

The Database Concentration which provides a comprehensive approach for detailed study in database, data warehousing, and data mining. Students who successfully complete this program will have practical knowledge of the principles and foundations for design, analysis, administration and implementation of large databases. The other concentration is the general concentration in Master of Science in Applied Computer Science. Students who complete the General Concentration will possess a broad applied knowledge in software engineering, computer networking and communications and artificial intelligence. They will have the skills and practical experience in the information technology area. These skills will hence qualify them for professional, managerial and technical positions in industry, education and government.

Admission Criteria for Master of Science in Applied Computer Science

Any university has general requirements, so above those, Master of Science in Applied Computer Science applicants must have;

  • A bachelor’s degree in Information Science/ Computer Science or a bachelor’s degree of specified background courses to be determined by the department of Graduates Committee.
  • An undergraduate GPA of at least 3 on a scale of 4 for full admission or documented proficiency in Master of Science in Applied Computer Science.

Admission to the Master of Science in Applied Computer Science program is determined by the Graduates Committee of the Department of Computer Science.

Program Requirements in Master of Science in Applied Computer Science

The generalized list includes 9 basic required courses, 12 core courses, 6 elective courses in Concentration and 3 general elective courses and thus a total of 30 credits needed in the Master of Science in Applied Computer Science program.

Database Concentration
