Within the physics field , physics lab experiments is the category of disciplines and sub-disciplines that deals with the skills of observing physics phenomena with the aim of gathering data about this universe.
These methods vary from simple experiments and observations like the Cavendish experiment to more complicated ones like the Large Hardron Collider.
Tentative physics rearrange all the disciplines of physics that are concerned with data-acquisition methods, data-acquisition itself, detailed conceptualization and realization of laboratory experiments.
Experimental physics is often put in contrast with hypothetical physics which is concentrates more on explaining and predicting the behavior of matter than getting of knowledge about it.
Experimental and theoretical physics have a symbiotic relation. Although they are concerned with diverse aspects of nature, they together share the same goal of understanding.
Experimental physics provides data about the universe, which can then be analyzed with the aim of understanding it. Theoretical physics provides explanations for the data. Therefore all these offer insight on how to acquire data better and on how to set up experiments.
The First Men in Physics Lab Experiments
In 1687, Sir Isaac Newton in printed the Philosophies Naturalist Principia Mathematical which culminated experimental physics. Newton also published the Principia which dealt with two comprehensive and successful physical theories.
These theories are; Newton’s laws of motion, classical mechanics arose from it. The other is the Newton’s law of universal gravitation. This law describes the fundamental force of gravity. Both theories can be proved experimentally.
Sir Isaac Newton was the first to do physics lab experiments that later did many experiments and developed links to modern discoveries.
From 17th century onward, physicist developed thermodynamics. Chemist like Boyle Young and others can also be credited in this league. Bernoulli in 1733 used statistical arguments together with classical mechanics to originate thermodynamic results, initiating the field of statistical mechanics.
Physics Lab Experiments: History of its establishment
Experimental physics was established as a distinct field in early modern Europe. This was during what was known as the Science Revolution.
Physicists such as Blaise Pascal, Johannes Kepler, Christian Huygens, Isaac Newton and Galileo Galilee founded the early experimental projects.
Galileo made extensive use of experimentation in the early 17th century so as to validate physical theories, which is the main idea in the current scientific method. Galileo initiated and fruitfully tested several results in inertia, a discipline of dynamics.
Current Physics Lab Experiments
Here, I highlight some of the prominent experimental examples in physics projects. They were performed and tested in a few years’ times.
The first to note is the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. It collides heavy ions such as gold ions and protons. Currently, it is stationed at In USA at Long Island in National lab.
The other to note is the Large Hadron Collider. It was completed in 2008 but suffered a series of setbacks. It was the world’s most energetic collider although it was shut down due to maintenance issues in 2009.
